Why Give
Gifts to Duchesne open doors for young women, strengthen academic and wellbeing programs, and sustain a vibrant residential community for women on UQ's St Lucia campus.
The generosity of our community:
- Directly helps young women attend the College and contribute to our shared vision to provide a supportive residential environment for women
- Builds a legacy in establishing bursaries in perpetuity for young women in genuine financial need to obtain a university education
- Provide opportunities for a diverse range of young women whose families would not otherwise have the means to give their daughters the chance to reside at Duchesne or, due to unforeseen circumstances, remain at the College.Duchesne College is entirely self-sufficient and receives no funding from the Catholic Church, university or state or federal governments.

Duchesne College Bursaries and Scholarships
At Duchesne College, we understand that financial circumstances should not stand in the way of a young woman's university journey. Our bursaries and scholarships aim to make College more accessible and to recognise students who show commitment, leadership, academic merit or personal resilience.
Your gift to the Bursary Fund will directly contribute to our shared vision to provide a supportive residential environment for women who may not otherwise have the opportunity to access university education and experience college life.

Our goal for 2026 – 2030 is to raise $1,000,000 for Bursaries and Scholarships, which will be matched by The University of Queensland (UQ) through The Queensland Commitment Campaign.
If contributing to endowed bursaries is close to your heart, please consider making a recurring pledge of any amount.
Your donation can be directed to the general bursary fund or to support an established named bursary.
Support Places and Spaces
Your donation will assist the College to provide an environment which continues to enhance the diverse community of current and future generations of young women.
The Duchesne College Council is developing an updated Master Site Plan that supports student living and learning and meets modern accommodation standards.
While the Master Site Plan is in development, there are areas of the College that require urgent upgrades.
Planned refurbishments and upgrades include:
- Refurbing Jubilee Wing (summer 2025/2026) to deliver 14 upgraded rooms, new bathrooms and new common room
- Enhanced delivery of meals through the upgrading of the Dining Hall servery
- Safety and security improvements through the installation of electronic locks throughout the whole college.

Tax benefits of your gift
Duchesne is registered as a deductible gift recipient (DGR) under federal government legislation - Subdivision 30-BA of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997, endorsed by the Australian Tax Office (ATO) as an income tax concession charity (TCC) and registered with the Australian Charities and not-for-profits commission.
Duchesne provides a receipt for every gift greater than $2 for your taxation records.
General information can be provided about donations, however we advise you to consult your financial adviser or accountant. More information is available from the Australian Tax Office (ATO).
Online Donations
You can make a one-off or annual gift to our Bursary or Building Fund or elect to support immediate needs through the Head of College Fund.
Once you have made your selection you will be guided through the payment process. The method of payment on our web site is by credit card. Duchesne College accepts Visa and Mastercards that have been issued in Australia or overseas.
If you authorise a recurring donation, your credit card details are stored by our payment processor in accordance with payment card industry standards.
